Begun under Hadrian and finished in the 2nd century AD, this bath complex was the largest outside Rome. (35000 sq m)
| You could see how large the complex is. This drawing shows the vertical cross section when viewing from the side (ie the big dome is at the front)
| What made the baths stand out was their sheer scale and size. The largest of the many pools was the size of a modern Olympic swimming pool.
| Arches in the Hypocaust (the lower level) contained furnaces that warmed the caldarium (hot pool) above.

Water was carried from the Byrsa through aqueduct and finally into the baths themselves
| Part of the capitol that fell off
| They tried to put back the broken pieces of inscriptions together, yet many parts were missing, like many parts of the upper level were taken away as construction material elsewhere

| After half a day of walking we finally decided to take our lunch here, right next to the bath
| This cat was sleeping now, but not long after he was awaken by the smell of our crepe and came to ask me for it
| Our lunch, chocolate crepes + 2 coke - 11.6 TND
