Vincent Poon :: Kotor

Kotor is definitely the no.1 of the must-see places in Montenegro. It is an UNESCO world heritage town with some churches, palaces and also allowed you to climb the city wall.

Of course one could not easily compare with its neighbour city of Dubrovnik@Croatia, but it is definitely less commercialized and crowded and it really sets you back into the medieval times.

This is the map of Kotor. As you can see it is a piece of a triangular land extended from the mountain to the sea
From Budva, we took a 40 minutes ride and finally arrived at the Kotor main bus station
From the main bus station to the old town of Kotor will take around 10 minutes of walk. On the way we passed by this what I think would be a former factory
and also the Kotor fire station... well the streets of the old town are too narrow for these fire engines, so not sure how these could put out the fire in the old town

we also passed by a few local restaurants...seems this one is really proud of its pork!
and this I believe was a bakery
Finally we approached the southern town wall of Kotor

Finally we approached the southern town wall of Kotor
and we were greeted by this gigantic scary lady doll...
and it seems like she was fishing..the inscription on her body gave us a clue on what she is... an advertisement of cogimar, a famous brand of fisheries products in Montenegro
We entered the old town through the Gurdich Gate (the South Gate) and its drawbridge
This entrance is less known to the tourists and hence more quiet... prepare to take you back in time...
